With Donald Trump projected to return to the White House, his campaign has outlined an ambitious Day 1 agenda covering immigration reform, energy policy, climate initiatives, and pardoning some Jan. 6 defendants.
Immigration and Green Cards for Graduates
Trump intends to implement mass deportations, aiming to remove millions of undocumented immigrants using law enforcement and National Guard support. He’s also promised a policy shift, proposing automatic green cards for noncitizens graduating from U.S. colleges, including junior colleges. Trump said that top graduates, including those in tech fields, deserve a streamlined path to stay in the U.S. post-graduation, mentioning H-1B visa expansions for skilled workers.

Reversals on Climate and Energy Policies
Another major priority is ending Biden administration climate policies, which Trump referred to as “Green New Deal atrocities.” His plans include rolling back regulations and eliminating offshore wind projects, as he pledges to expand domestic oil drilling.
Pardons for Jan. 6 Defendants
Trump has stated his intent to consider pardons for some convicted Jan. 6 rioters, asserting that many are “wrongfully imprisoned.” Over 1,530 individuals have been charged, with more than 1,000 pleading guilty.
These plans signal a drastic policy shift and indicate Trump’s focus on energy independence, immigration reform, and reassessing criminal cases from Jan. 6 as his top immediate priorities.
