A federal grand jury in New York is set to examine new evidence in the criminal case against music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs, according to sources familiar with the proceedings. The grand jury is expected to convene Thursday, though details on the nature of the evidence and potential witnesses remain undisclosed.
Federal prosecutors have previously suggested that additional charges may be introduced. Combs’ trial is currently slated for May, though the schedule could shift if further charges are added. Combs has denied all allegations in both his criminal and civil cases.
Defense Rebuts Civil Allegations
Combs’ legal team recently addressed new allegations in a civil suit, which include a claim of sexual assault of a minor, calling these allegations “facially ridiculous or demonstrably false.” In their statement, Combs’ attorneys suggested that the plaintiff’s lawyer was motivated by media attention.
“We have full confidence in the facts and the integrity of the judicial process,” the defense team stated, adding, “In court, the truth will prevail.” Combs maintains his innocence regarding all claims of sexual assault and trafficking.
Criminal Case Developments
Combs, who has pleaded not guilty to charges including racketeering, sex trafficking, and conspiracy, remains in custody without bail despite his legal team’s objections. His attorneys are seeking an order to reveal the identities of his accusers as they prepare for his defense.
Federal prosecutors and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York have declined to comment on the ongoing case.
